# Byredo Gypsy Water Dupes 2026: 6 Picks Compared

**We sell only the originals.** Every perfume we sell is the authentic original, decanted from the perfume house’s own bottle. We buy our bottles from authorized EU distributors and directly from the brands, and 10ML decants every perfume itself. We never sell dupes, clones or inspired-by perfumes. This guide compares the dupes other houses make of Gypsy Water, so you can choose, or wear the original first.

## Quick answer

The best Gypsy Water dupe overall is Morning Rain by Oakcha, which Fragrantica lists as inspired by Gypsy Water with the same published pyramid. Lake by By/Rosie Jane earns the dry-down slot from a forum member who owns both. Call Me Iris is the premium pick, tied to the original's perfumer on Parfumo. Want the real thing? Gypsy Water is €45.81 for a 10ml decant at 10ML.

You can try the original, [Gypsy Water](https://10ml.com/perfumes/byredo-gypsy-water), at 10ML as a 10 ml decant, before you choose a dupe.

## What does Gypsy Water smell like?

[Gypsy Water](https://10ml.com/perfumes/byredo-gypsy-water) by Byredo came out in 2008 and is sold as a unisex scent. [Byredo's own page](https://www.byredo.com/eu_en/p/gypsy-water-eau-de-parfum) and the catalogue give the same three layers. The top is [bergamot](https://10ml.com/notes/bergamot), [lemon](https://10ml.com/notes/lemon), pepper and juniper berries: zesty, a little sharp. The heart turns to [incense](https://10ml.com/notes/incense), pine needles and [orris](https://10ml.com/notes/iris), which gives the scent its resinous, outdoor mood. The base is soft: [amber](https://10ml.com/notes/amber), [vanilla](https://10ml.com/notes/vanilla) and [sandalwood](https://10ml.com/notes/sandalwood).

Its accords read woody, fresh and aromatic. The hard part for anyone chasing it is the balance between that resinous pine middle and a base sweet enough to round it off without turning it into dessert.

## Gypsy Water or Gypsy Water Absolu?

[Gypsy Water Absolu](https://10ml.com/perfumes/byredo-gypsy-water-absolu) arrived in 2026 from the same perfumer, Jérôme Epinette. It keeps bergamot and pine needles on top, names [black pepper](https://10ml.com/notes/black-pepper) outright, and moves the base to Ambroxan and vanilla, a deeper finish. None of the picks below was made with the Absolu in mind, so treat every one of them as aimed at the 2008 Eau de Parfum. Both are on 10ML, and the Absolu starts at €14.58 for 3ml.

**Gypsy Water and its Absolu, with the pick that sits nearer**

| Version | Year | Profile | Pick to try against it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Gypsy Water | 2008 | Zesty and peppery, with pine and a soft, sweet base | Morning Rain |
| Gypsy Water Absolu | 2026 | Bergamot, black pepper and pine over Ambroxan and vanilla | None of the six targets it |

## Best overall: Morning Rain

Morning Rain by Oakcha is made as a Gypsy Water alternative, and its note list follows the original line by line. Its [Fragrantica listing](https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Oakcha/Morning-Rain-93025.html) names Gypsy Water as its inspiration and gives the same lemon, pepper, bergamot and juniper on top, pine needles, incense and orris in the heart, and vanilla, amber and sandalwood underneath.

The main difference, by one account, is how long it stays. A member of the [Fragrantica forum](https://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=333832) who had nearly finished a bottle enjoyed it as a Gypsy Water stand-in and found that it wore far longer than the original did on them. That is one person's skin, not a rule. On [Parfumo's comparison page](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/oakcha/morning-rain/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum), 16 of 18 voting members find the two similar: a strong ratio from a small group.

It suits someone who loves the Gypsy Water pyramid but finds the original fades too soon on their skin. Basis: a named source, Fragrantica's listing and forum, with Parfumo's vote.

## Closest on the dry-down: Lake

Lake by By/Rosie Jane takes this slot on the word of an owner. A member of a [Fragrantica forum thread on Gypsy Water dupes](https://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=291981) who has both calls Lake a very close match and says its dry-down is spot on.

The main difference is the first spray, which that owner finds a little sharp. Neither source sets out Lake's notes against the original, so the opening is the only gap on record. On the [Lake comparison page](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/by-rosie-jane/lake-eau-de-parfum/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum), all but seven voting members rate the pair similar.

It suits someone who judges Gypsy Water by where it ends up, and who can let a brisker start settle before deciding. Basis: a named source, the forum owner's account and Parfumo's vote.

## Sweeter take: Colette

Colette by Tocca leans toward lemon and powder. [Parfumo's comparison](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/Tocca/Colette/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum) classifies it citrus, powdery, floral and sweet, where Gypsy Water reads woody and fresh, and five in six voting members call the pair similar.

The main difference is sugar. One member of a [Fragrantica thread on fragrances like Gypsy Water](https://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=334842) finds it very similar, but passes on complaints about how long it lasts. Another, who owns both, calls Colette more of a powdery lemon cake.

It suits someone drawn to the lemon at the top of Gypsy Water who would trade some of the pine and incense for a softer, sweeter finish. Basis: a named source, Parfumo's comparison and two forum members.

## Softer take: Mysterious Nomad

Mysterious Nomad by Fine'ry is the cosy option. On [its Fragrantica page](https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Fine-ry/Mysterious-Nomad-91428.html), a member who owns Gypsy Water describes a warm, pleasant lemon-cake scent with a slightly musky vanilla and sandalwood base, and says that to them and their partner the two smell very similar after the first ten minutes or so. Other members there describe a soft, powdery dry-down.

The main difference is the start, and opinion splits on strength. One Fragrantica member finds it much more peppery than Gypsy Water at first, then a close match through the heart and base; another finds it louder and less smoothly blended than the original. On the [comparison page](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/fine-ry/mysterious-nomad-eau-de-parfum/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum), all but two voting members rate them similar.

It suits someone who likes the lemon and woods of Gypsy Water best and wants a cosier, more powdery finish for an office or a shared room. Basis: a named source, members' comments on Fragrantica and the comparison vote on Parfumo.

## Darker take: Commodity Gold

Commodity Gold divides Parfumo's voters. On [its comparison page](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/Commodity/Gold/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum), fewer than half the voting members rate it similar to Gypsy Water.

The main difference is warmth. Parfumo classifies Gold as sweet, spicy, woody, creamy and resinous, against Gypsy Water's woody, spicy, fresh and citrus. Read together, that points to a richer, creamier scent with the citrus lift turned down. Its bottle price in the table sits next to the premium pick's, so it is no budget route.

It suits someone who likes Gypsy Water's woods and spice and wants a warmer, more resinous take. Basis: a named source, and a divided vote at that.

## Premium alternative: Call Me Iris

Call Me Iris by Les Sœurs de Noé is a perfume in its own right, and it is here for a reason that no other pick shares: Parfumo lists Jérôme Epinette, the perfumer behind Gypsy Water, among its perfumers. On the [Call Me Iris comparison page](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/les-soeurs-de-noe/call-me-iris/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum), the share of voters who call them similar is above four in five.

The main difference is price. A member of the [Fragrantica forum](https://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=291981) names it the only perfume they know that is really close to Gypsy Water, and adds that it is not a low-cost option either. No priced bottle in our table costs more.

It suits someone who wants a full bottle from the same perfumer's hand rather than a budget route. Basis: a named source, Parfumo's perfumer credit and vote, and one forum member.

| # | Perfume | Main notes | 3 ml | 10 ml |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | [Diptyque Eau Duelle](https://10ml.com/perfumes/diptyque-eau-duelle) | Bergamot and juniper over vanilla, with pink pepper, cardamom and black tea: spicier and tea-led. | €12.51 (€4.17/ml) | €37.26 (€3.73/ml) |
| 2 | [Guerlain Angélique Noire](https://10ml.com/perfumes/guerlain-angelique-noire) | Angelica, pear and pink pepper, then caraway and jasmine over cedar and vanilla: greener at the start. | €17.64 (€5.88/ml) | €50.31 (€5.03/ml) |
| 3 | [Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vetiver](https://10ml.com/perfumes/issey-miyake-leau-dissey-pour-homme-vetiver) | Bergamot and citrus into vetiver and cedar: drier and earthier. | €7.29 (€2.43/ml) | €20.07 (€2.01/ml) |

## Where the picks part from Gypsy Water

Two gaps come up again and again. The first is the opening: Lake's owner finds its first spray sharper, and a Fragrantica member finds Mysterious Nomad much more peppery at the start. By those same accounts, both settle closer to Gypsy Water later on.

The second is the finish. Colette and Commodity Gold both move toward sweetness, one as powdered lemon and one as creamy resin. Wear is the third theme: one forum member passes on complaints about Colette, and the one Morning Rain owner on record praises how long it stayed. If that is your concern with the original, read our [tips for making perfume last](https://10ml.com/guides/how-to-make-perfume-last-longer) before you switch.

## Clone bottle or a Gypsy Water decant?

Only two of the six show a price in the table. Morning Rain, Lake, Colette and Mysterious Nomad show "No EU list price found", since none of those four had a euro list price we could verify. Both priced picks cost less per ml than a decant of the original, though Commodity Gold and Call Me Iris still mean paying for a whole bottle up front.

Gypsy Water comes in three decant sizes at 10ML. The 3ml (around 60 sprays) costs €15.93 and tells you whether the pine and incense heart is what you want before you commit to 100ml of anything. The 10ml costs €45.81, or €4.58/ml, and the 30ml holds around 600 sprays for see the product page. A 10ml decant of the Absolu is €47.70 if you want both versions on the shelf. For context across the shop, see the [per-ml price index](https://10ml.com/guides/perfume-price-per-ml-index) and our [decants versus full bottles](https://10ml.com/guides/decant-vs-full-bottle) explainer.

## Originals from other houses with the same pine and citrus air

We stock four perfumes that borrow part of Gypsy Water's frame. [Eau Duelle](https://10ml.com/perfumes/diptyque-eau-duelle) by Diptyque has bergamot and juniper over a vanilla base, with pink pepper, elemi, saffron, cardamom and black tea for a spicier, tea-led take. [Angélique Noire](https://10ml.com/perfumes/guerlain-angelique-noire) by Guerlain sets angelica, pear and pink pepper over caraway and jasmine, then cedar and vanilla: greener at first, with a similar soft vanilla close. [L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Vetiver](https://10ml.com/perfumes/issey-miyake-leau-dissey-pour-homme-vetiver) by Issey Miyake keeps the bergamot and citrus brightness and runs it into vetiver and cedar, a drier, earthier walk in the woods. CK IN2U for Her by Calvin Klein, a similar original, opens on pink grapefruit and Sicilian bergamot over cactus and orchid, then settles on vanilla, red cedar and amber: fresher and fruitier, with a vanilla and amber finish in the same spirit. One member of a [Fragrantica forum thread](https://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=291981) suggests it to Gypsy Water fans for that fresher feel, and [Parfumo's comparison](https://www.parfumo.com/compare/Calvin_Klein/CK_In_2U_Her/vs/Byredo/Gypsy_Water_Eau_de_Parfum) classifies it citrus, fresh, sweet, fruity and floral and rates the pair only moderately similar.

Every one is sold in decant sizes, so you can wear one in the same week as Gypsy Water. For the rest of the house, Mojave Ghost included, see [the best Byredo perfumes](https://10ml.com/guides/best-byredo-perfumes). The [Another 13 dupes](https://10ml.com/guides/another-13-dupes) guide covers a musk-led niche scent, and [our other Le Labo dupes guide](https://10ml.com/guides/santal-33-dupes) works the same way for a woody scent from that house.

## How to test a Gypsy Water dupe

The arguments about these picks centre on two moments, so check both. In the first minutes, ask whether the lemon and juniper read bright or harsh, since that is Lake's one reported flaw. Later, once it has settled, ask whether the pine and incense are still there under the vanilla, or whether the base has slid into plain sweetness. Spray [Gypsy Water](https://10ml.com/perfumes/byredo-gypsy-water) on your wrist one day and the alternative the next, rather than on a card.

A 3ml gives you several days of that comparison. If Gypsy Water wins, move up to the 10ml decant, which carries around 200 sprays. To learn how decants are filled, read [what a perfume decant is](https://10ml.com/guides/what-is-a-perfume-decant); to see why trying first beats guessing, read the [blind-buy guide](https://10ml.com/guides/blind-buy-alternative).

## Clone or original? What to know first

### Can I try Gypsy Water in a small size before buying a clone bottle?

Yes: 10ML fills every Gypsy Water decant from the original bottle, and it comes as a 3ml, a 10ml or a 30ml. For €15.93, the 3ml holds around 60 sprays: several days of comparison against any pick in this guide.

### Which Byredo Gypsy Water dupe leads this guide, and why?

Morning Rain by Oakcha. Fragrantica lists it as inspired by Gypsy Water with the same notes from lemon and juniper to vanilla and sandalwood, and 16 of 18 voting members on Parfumo find the two similar, a small but lopsided vote.

### What does Lake by By/Rosie Jane keep from Gypsy Water, and what does it change?

One forum member who owns both says the dry-down is spot on and the match very close. The change they report is the first spray, which they find a little sharp.

### Is Call Me Iris connected to Gypsy Water?

Only through its perfumer: Parfumo lists Jérôme Epinette, who made Gypsy Water, among the perfumers of Call Me Iris. It is a separate perfume from another house, and it has the highest bottle price in our comparison table.

### Is there a dupe for Gypsy Water Absolu?

Not in this guide: every pick here was compared with the 2008 Eau de Parfum. The Absolu adds Ambroxan and vanilla absolute to the base, and 10ML sells it from €14.58 for 3ml.

### How do these picks compare per ml with a Gypsy Water decant?

Both priced picks cost less per ml than a decant, while four picks lacked a verifiable EU price. Gypsy Water is €45.81 for a 10ml decant, or €4.58/ml.

### How long will Gypsy Water stay on my skin?

There is no single answer: skin type, heat and the number of sprays all change it. A 3ml worn over several days shows you how it holds up on your own skin, and our tips on making perfume last can help before you switch to a clone.

### Does 10ML sell dupes?

No. 10ML sells only original perfumes. We buy our bottles from authorized EU distributors and directly from the brands, and 10ML decants every perfume itself. The dupes in this guide are other houses’ perfumes, and we don’t sell them. You can wear the original first from €15.93.

## How we compared

Each alternative is ranked by how closely it follows the notes and dry-down of Gypsy Water, on the basis shown for it in the table. Prices in other shops are as checked on 1 October 2026 and change often; the 10ML prices on this page are live.

10ML is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Byredo or by the houses of the alternatives named here. Their names are used only to identify the perfumes compared.
