Parfumo lists black pepper, elemi resin and pink pepper on top, frankincense and saffron in the heart, and suede, bourbon vanilla and cedar at the base. That is the original's note set, tier for tier. The differences are only in wording: Parfumo writes frankincense where our catalogue writes olibanum, and names the vanilla as bourbon. It suits you if you want a clone whose list keeps every one of the original's notes, backed by the broadest vote line. Pick it when the note list matters more to you than a distinct twist. ## Closest on the dry-down: Fierte Fierte by French Avenue holds the closest role: its listed set matches the original's, as Rifaaqat's does. The gap is in what the list omits: no black pepper, pink pepper, saffron, suede or cedarwood appears, and it adds artemisia, clove, cistus, gaiac wood, amber, benzoin and musk. It suits you if the lowest price per ml is your deciding filter and you accept a list built on resins and balsams rather than peppers and saffron. One shelf-price caution: another clone, Exquisite Leather, has a lower bottle price, but its bottle is only 50ml. ## Darker take: Nayel Queen Nayel Queen by Arabiyat Prestige takes the darker label from its notes alone. It lists black pepper, pink pepper and tobacco on top, elemi resin, frankincense, saffron and cedarwood in the heart, and suede, benzoin, bourbon vanilla and tonka bean at the base. Every note of the original is there, though the heart now carries the elemi and the cedarwood. The main difference is three additions: tobacco, benzoin and tonka bean. It suits you if you want the pepper, saffron and suede set with tobacco and tonka bean added. The bottle is 75ml, so use the price per ml when you compare. ## Fresher take: Exquisite Leather Exquisite Leather by David Beckham is the fresher pick on its note list. It shares pink pepper and cedarwood with the original, and leather echoes the original's accords. The main difference is the opening of apple and raspberry, and neither saffron nor vanilla is listed. The main difference is a floral and ambergris twist: orange blossom, rose, leather and ambergris are added, and no pink pepper, suede or cedar is listed. Two clones, Rifaaqat and Fierte, list the same notes as the original, yet that proves nothing about how they sit on skin. Vote lines also vary in size: 46 of 51 is a smaller sample than 356 of 388, and the wording on Parfumo differs from the catalogue's in places. ## How to test a dupe Skin shows what paper hides, so spray there. Wear the original on one day, then a single clone on each following day, and keep the wrists separate. Start with the 3ml decant of the original, and keep it by for the comparison. Look for what each clone holds on to: the peppery top, the saffron and olibanum heart and the suede and vanilla base. Then see what it swaps, such as the tobacco in Nayel Queen, the apple in Exquisite Leather or the rose in Eau the Audacity.
