Perfume discovery sets ranked by price per ml

We read every set on the house's own EU store on 5 Nov 2026. 39 sets had a price in euro; 2 were sold out, so 37 are ranked: 32 with a fixed line-up and 5 where you choose the perfumes. Per ml is the price divided by the total ml, to two decimals. Tied sets share a rank.

Read the Per ml column, not the price. Jean Paul Gaultier's kit has the lowest price and the lowest rate per ml. Initio's Black Gold Project set has the highest rate, with 3 vials of 1.5ml.

The middle of the table is tight. Parfums de Marly appears seven times, from rank 12 to rank 31, because its vials run from 1.5ml up to 10ml. Its largest set, Le Coffret Collectionneur, holds 90ml of perfume, more than any other set we ranked.

Initio runs from rank 11 to rank 37. Its Coffret Iconiques, with large vials, sits at rank 11, and sets of 1.5ml vials fill the lower places. Kilian Paris spans almost the same range, from rank 10 to rank 36.

What is inside each set

Most houses name every perfume in the box. Table 2 lists the 32 fixed line-ups. Where we found no names, we write "Not listed" and add nothing.

Pick-your-own house sets

Five of the 37 sets let you choose the perfumes. They rank no differently from the fixed ones, because per ml only counts the volume. What changes is what you choose from.

• Parfums de Marly, Le Trio Découverte: 3 travel sprays, chosen from about ten perfumes, among them Delina, Layton and Valaya.
• Byredo, La Sélection Byredo: 3 × 12ml, chosen from ten perfumes, including Gypsy Water, Mojave Ghost and Blanche.
• Byredo, La Découverte Sur-Mesure: six perfumes of 2ml that you choose yourself.
• Diptyque, Coffret de 5 eaux de toilette à composer: 5 × 7.5ml, chosen from its eaux de toilette, among them Philosykos and Tam Dao.
• Xerjoff, Sample Kit: up to four vials of 2ml.

Which sets give you a code back

13 of the 37 sets come with a code or voucher for a later bottle, from 6 houses: Jean Paul Gaultier, Xerjoff, Kilian Paris, Parfums de Marly, Byredo and Initio. Table 3 gives each house's own terms.

A code only pays back if you then buy a qualifying bottle from that house, in the right size and in time, and even then Byredo's La Grande Découverte code covers most of the set's price, not all. If you do not buy, you paid full price for a few vials.

That is why the ranking ignores codes. We never subtract a code from a price, because it is not money back: it is a voucher that depends on a later purchase. Amouage adds a free vial to every order and Diptyque gives a welcome gift on a first order; both are extras, not codes.

Le Labo and Creed: no euro price

Le Labo's Discovery Set Classic Collection holds 17 vials of 1.5ml, but we found it priced in US dollars only. We did not convert it, so it is not ranked. We also found no Creed discovery set with a euro price. Our own Creed set page is the place to try that house in 3ml.

How a 10ML house set compares

At 10ML you do not buy a box someone else packed. The offer is: "Any 4 perfumes in 3ml: the 4th is free, and on your first order we add a 5th as our gift." Every 4th decant of 3ml is free, and it is always the lowest priced. You choose every perfume, from any house.

Small-vial house sets often cost less per ml than a 3ml decant, and the figures in Table 4 let you check that. A 3ml decant is twice the size of a 1.5ml vial and gives around 60 sprays. What you gain is choice: no perfume in the set is there because the house put it in.

Baccarat Rouge 540, Oud for Greatness and Guidance all list saffron in their notes. A 3ml decant lets you test that on your own skin before you commit to a larger size.

When you like one, a 10ml decant is for wearing for weeks, at around 200 sprays.

How to choose a house discovery set

• Start with a house you already like. A set from a house you wear teaches you more than a set from ten houses at once.
• Check the vial size. A 1.5ml vial is half a 3ml decant, which is around 60 sprays. Bigger vials last for more than a first impression.
• Read per ml before price. A low price can hide a small volume, and a high price can hide a large one.
• Plan the bottle. If you will buy a full bottle from that house soon, the code in Table 3 can count, but only in the stated size and window.

Two Byredo sets were sold out and are not ranked: La Découverte Nomade and La Découverte Florale. Some Parfums de Marly sets deliver from 9 November and Maison Francis Kurkdjian's from 10 November.
