What does L'Heure Bleue smell like?

L'Heure Bleue is a 2026 Eau de Parfum listed for women and credited to the perfumer Delphine Jelk. Its opening lists two things: ozonic notes and orange blossom. That pairing puts an airy, clean-air impression beside a white floral from the first spray, so the start is neither a fruit burst nor a citrus snap.

The heart is iris and orris. Both belong to the same plant family of notes, and together they give the middle of the perfume its powdery, cool character. A five-day wear test with a 3ml sample

A 3ml decant holds around 60 sprays, enough to repeat the test rather than judge it from one morning. Do not decide from paper or from the opening alone: judge it after an hour on skin, when the ozonic start has given way to the heart, and check the base later in the day.

1. Day one: wear it alone. Apply to clean skin on one wrist and leave it alone. Write down the opening, make your first real judgement after an hour, and note what remains in the evening.
2. Day two: repeat on the same skin. Use the same number of sprays at roughly the same time. See whether the iris and orris heart feels powdery in a way you enjoy, or too cool.
3. Day three: compare it with Eau de Tulle. Put it on one arm and Eau de Tulle on the other, with the same number of sprays. Check both after an hour and again later.
4. Day four: swap the arms. Reverse the positions so neither perfume gets the "better" arm. Keep your notes about each separate.
5. Day five: return to your favourite. Wear it in a real setting, whether that is work, a day out or an evening. Ask which one you would choose to wear again.

The point of the swap is to separate the perfume from the skin it sits on. Your own notes, written after an hour and again in the evening, are worth more than a broad statement about performance.

How far each decant size goes

The 3ml is the discovery size. Around 60 sprays easily cover the five-day plan and leave spares for a repeat. It answers the question most people have: does the powdery iris heart and the vanilla-ambroxan base suit my skin and my taste?

Its accords include musky, powdery, vanilla, white floral, chocolate, amber, citrus and sweet. That is the closest route to L'Heure Bleue's iris and orange blossom, but the centre of gravity is musk and milk rather than ozone and a sweet base. Its accords include musky, powdery, white floral, iris, lactonic and woody. Longevity votes lean "moderate", then "long lasting"; the sillage vote is clearly "moderate". Interlude Black Iris is a 2020 Eau de Parfum listed for men, credited to Pierre Negrin. It takes orris into a much darker place. Rosemary, bergamot and violet leaf open it. The heart lists orris, olibanum, amber, labdanum, vanilla and myrrh, and the base adds agarwood, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli and leather.

Its accords are amber, woody, powdery, iris, fresh spicy, warm spicy, aromatic, leather, balsamic and oud. Longevity votes lean "eternal", then "long lasting"; the sillage vote is clearly "strong". Voters favour winter and autumn, and night and evening; the catalogue lists going out as its occasion. Choose it when the iris and vanilla are what you like and you want resin, leather and wood around them.

Irresistible Givenchy by Givenchy

Irresistible Givenchy is a 2020 perfume listed for women, credited to Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion and Fanny Bal. Pear and ambrette lead, rose and iris sit in the middle, and the base lists musk with Virginia cedar.

Its accords include musky, rose, fruity, powdery, floral and sweet. Votes on both longevity and sillage are clearly "moderate". Spring and day wear lead, and the catalogue lists work as an occasion. It is the lighter, fruitier route to iris and musk, and it is the lowest-priced of the four in 3ml.
