Mojave Ghost is a niche Byredo scent, and a full bottle at the house costs many times what a small decant does. That makes the original the sensible place to begin: a 3ml, around 60 sprays, is 15,93 €. If you came looking for a small size to try before committing, that is it, filled from the original bottle.

What does Mojave Ghost smell like?

Mojave Ghost by Byredo came out in 2014 and is listed as unisex. It opens on Jamaican naseberry, which brings a soft sweetness, with ambrette, a plant seed with a gentle musky tone. The heart is magnolia, violet and sandalwood: pale flowers on a creamy wood. It settles on cedarwood, Chantilly musk and crisp amber. The listed accords are only woody, floral and musky, and that restraint is the point: a clean, quiet, skin-like scent where the fruit and flowers never shout. Eau de Parfum or Absolu?

10ML sells both versions. Mojave Ghost Absolu arrived in 2024 as an Absolu de Parfum, and its note list follows the Eau de Parfum closely, with pear added to the top and vetiver added to the base. All but one of the Parfumo members who voted on the pair find the two very similar. Clone makers do not always say which one they followed, so the table shows a pick Parfumo voters have compared with each.

Nava Sol by Rayhaan leads because Parfumo ties it to both versions: every member who voted on its comparison with the Eau de Parfum finds the two similar, and so does every voter on its comparison with the Absolu. The pyramid Parfumo lists for it is Mojave Ghost's own: sapote and ambrette, then sandalwood, magnolia and violet, then ambergris, musk and cedar. One Parfumo member says it clearly carries the Mojave Ghost DNA.

The main difference is how little is documented. Nava Sol is a 2026 release, so owner feedback is still thin: the case rests on a small group of Parfumo voters and one member's comment, and Rayhaan's own page makes no comparison with Mojave Ghost. Rayhaan sells it from its EU shop, shipped from the Netherlands.

It suits someone who already knows they like Mojave Ghost or the Absolu and wants a large bottle for everyday spraying at the lowest outlay in this guide. Basis: a named source, the Parfumo comparison votes and a member's comment there.

Desert Glass by Oakcha lists much of the original's frame. Fragrantica gives ambrette and sapodilla, then violet, sandalwood and magnolia, then ambergris and cedarwood, and on Parfumo's comparison page, 15 of 16 voting members rate it similar to Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum.

The main difference is texture. One Fragrantica member finds it a lighter, more airy, soapy and gentle version of Mojave Ghost, and another remembers a similar DNA. The first member also suggests looking elsewhere for a closer likeness, so read it as a softened relative rather than a stand-in.

Petra Viola by Lattafa is a sweeter cousin, and it is compared with the Absolu rather than the Eau de Parfum. On Parfumo's comparison with the Absolu, 9 of 15 voting members find the two similar. Its listed notes, raspberry and cotton candy among them, differ a lot from the original's.

The main difference is the sugar at the start. One Parfumo member finds it opens as sugared raspberry and only turns woodier and muskier, towards the Absolu, as it settles; that member calls it an inspiration rather than a dupe. Another, on Fragrantica, finds it has the Absolu's vibe, just sweeter.

Ghostbusters by Alexandria Fragrances makes no secret of its target. The house's product page names Mojave Ghost as the inspiration and lists magnolia, violet, sapodilla and ambergris. Magnolia and violet are the shared flowers.

The main difference is density. One Parfumo member finds the smell spot on but denser than the airy original. Another, wearing both at once, finds it close but missing the original's brightness, like Mojave Ghost on a smoker's leather jacket.

Musky Violet by Dossier names Mojave Ghost as its inspiration on its own page, and on Parfumo's comparison page, 10 of 13 voting members find it similar to Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum. Going by the lists, the shared ground is violet, musk, sandalwood and cedarwood.

The main difference, on paper, is the top of the list. Dossier lists watermelon, green apple and peach on top, then violet leaf, iris, jasmine and rose, then musks, sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver. There is no sapodilla on its list, and no ambrette or magnolia either.

It suits someone who wants the violet-and-musk side of the Mojave Ghost idea and is curious about a different set of fruits up top. Basis: published notes only, so treat the resemblance as a reading of the note lists, not a proven match.

Chance Eau Tendre by Chanel is not a clone. It is a designer perfume that turns up when people look for Mojave Ghost alternatives, and it is the sideways step rather than a saving. On Parfumo's comparison page, just over half of the voting members find the Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette and Mojave Ghost similar. They share musk, amber and cedarwood.

The main difference is the start. Eau Tendre opens on quince and grapefruit with hyacinth, jasmine and iris, where the original lists naseberry and ambrette, then magnolia and violet. In a Fragrantica forum thread on perfumes similar to Mojave Ghost, one member gets a similar vibe from it and would wear the two for the same occasions.

It suits someone who wants a well-known designer scent in the same soft, musky lane and accepts that opinion is split close to half and half. Basis: a named source, the Parfumo comparison and the forum thread.

Where the clones leave the original's notes

Mojave Ghost's top is unusual. Naseberry, listed elsewhere as sapodilla or sapote, is the note to watch, and the clones handle it in different ways. Desert Glass and Ghostbusters keep sapodilla on their lists; Musky Violet replaces it with watermelon, green apple and peach; Petra Viola goes to raspberry and cotton candy. Chance Eau Tendre was never aiming at it and opens on quince and grapefruit.

The base is the other sticking point. The original pairs cedarwood and musk with a crisp amber, and several clones list ambergris there instead, or add vetiver. If the quiet, clean skin feel is what you love, that is where to pay attention when you compare.

Clone bottle or a Mojave Ghost decant?

Per ml, the three clones we could price in euros cost far less than the original in any size. A 10ml decant of Mojave Ghost is 45,81 € (4,58 €/ml), and a 30ml is 120,60 € (4,02 €/ml). Ghostbusters and Musky Violet show no price in the table because we found no euro list price on the check date, and Chance Eau Tendre had no confirmed euro price either.

Per decision, the picture flips. The 3ml costs less than any clone bottle we could price in euros. The Absolu comes as a 3ml too, at 16,56 €, so both versions can go on your skin before you pick one. Authentic perfumes in the same soft register

Three originals from other houses share part of the musky, floral-woody feel. Dama Bianca by Xerjoff shares the most listed notes: violet, ambrette, sandalwood, cedarwood and white musk, with iris, kumquat, lime, jasmine, lilac and vanilla around them. Love in White by Creed sets magnolia, iris, rice and rose over sandalwood, cedarwood, musk and ambergris, after an apple, apricot and orange opening. How to test a dupe

Musky, quiet scents are hard to judge on yourself, because musk can slip out of your own attention while people near you still notice it. So test Mojave Ghost and any clone on different days, on skin rather than a card, and check three moments: the naseberry and ambrette at the start, the magnolia and violet once it has settled, and the cedarwood and musk in the evening. If you can, ask someone close to you which one they notice more.

A 3ml of Mojave Ghost is enough for that comparison. Should the original win, move up to a 10ml decant (around 200 sprays) for regular wear, or a 30ml (around 600) if it becomes your signature.
