How tonka changes from one perfume to the next

Tonka beans are the seeds of a tree called Dipteryx odorata, which is native to northern South America. They have a strong fragrance because they contain a lot of coumarin. In a perfume that reads as a warm, sweet base.

The partner notes do the steering. Almond and cherry make tonka fruity. Coffee and cacao make it dark. Cinnamon, honey and rum make it spicy. Musk and flowers soften it, and lavender gives it a fresh edge.
