What does Delina Exclusif smell like?

Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly launched in 2018 as a perfume for going out. On the house's page, it opens on bergamot, pear and litchi, then turns to rose and incense before a base of vanilla and musk. Older lists, 10ML's catalogue included, also name oud, amber, grapefruit, pink pepper and vetiver. Think of it as a creamy, powdery rose with a sweet fruit start and a vanilla finish. It is a different perfume from Delina, which came a year earlier. Commenters sometimes mean one and sometimes the other, so check which version a commenter means.

Best overall: Club de Nuit White Imperiale

Club de Nuit White Imperiale by Armaf has the broadest support of the seven. Parfumo's comparison page shows 125 of 146 voting members finding it similar to Delina Exclusif. Parfumo spells it Club de Nuit Impériale.

It lists litchi, bergamot and nutmeg, then Turkish rose, peony, vanilla and musk, then incense, vetiver, cedar and cashmeran. Most of that matches the original's lists. The main difference is the nutmeg, peony, cashmeran and cedar, which follow the original Delina more than Exclusif.

Two members of a Fragrantica forum thread asking for clones call it the closest to Exclusif. One has tried many Delina alternatives. The other owns Delina Exclusif, this and Lattafa's Thouq. A third member finds it overpowering at the start. A Fragrantica commenter describes a sharp litchi, citrus and nutmeg opening that settles into Turkish rose, creamy vanilla, musk and a little incense.

Pick it if you want the most agreed-upon starting point. Be aware of the dissent: another Fragrantica commenter, comparing three alternatives, ranks it third and finds the opening bitter and metallic.

Closest on the dry-down: Thouq

Thouq by Lattafa is the pick owners describe as nearest once it settles. A Fragrantica forum member who owns both says Thouq is very similar to Delina Exclusif.

A Fragrantica commenter who owns three Delina Exclusif alternatives finds the original's candied-rose opening missing from all of them, with dry-downs close to it. Thouq comes closest of the three, then Khadlaj's Rose Couture, then Armaf's Club de Nuit White Imperiale. Another commenter, wearing Thouq on one hand and Delina Exclusif on the other, finds it clearly the Exclusif rather than the original Delina.

The main difference from the original is the start. Several commenters note a soft opening that grows stronger once the bottle has rested. Choose Thouq if you care about the dry-down more than the first minutes. Skip it if the candied-rose opening is what you love.

Sweeter take: Ameerat Al Arab Prive Rose

Ameerat Al Arab Prive Rose by Asdaaf is the sweeter route. A Fragrantica commenter who owns Delina Exclusif and several of its alternatives finds the differences small. Prive Rose is a little more bubblegum-like throughout, from its grape and strawberry, with a muskier dry-down.

Another commenter finds it settles into a sweeter, juicier Delina Exclusif. A third sees the comparison but does not treat it as a stand-in, and finds the middle hours powdery and ambery.

A forum member finds it very similar to Delina Exclusif and very long-lasting, and says it became rounder and sweeter after resting for a couple of months. Choose it if you want the fruit pushed forward. Treat it as its own perfume first.

Softer take: Rose Couture

Rose Couture by Khadlaj is the gentler one. On Fragrantica, one commenter finds it not as powdery as Delina Exclusif and calls it a less extreme, tamer version for days you want its character without filling the room. Another says it does smell like Delina Exclusif but is not as creamy and enveloping.

Accounts split on the opening. One owner finds it fresher and easier than the original's, another a dusty, potpourri-like rose at first. Parfumo's comparison page shows 28 of 36 voting members finding it similar. It lists litchi, pear and bergamot, then incense, oud and Turkish rose, then vanilla, amber and cedarwood.

The main difference from the original is less cream and less powder. It suits you if Delina Exclusif feels heavy.

Lowest price: divain.649

divain.649 by Divain is the weakest pick on evidence, so read it as a lead rather than a verdict. In a Fragrantica forum thread asking for clones, a member in Western Europe recommends Divain's Delina Exclusif alternative and says that, wearing both, at some point the two smelled very close. That is one member's remark about the house, not a comparison of notes.

Divain's own catalogue lists divain.649 as that alternative, with litchi, pear and bergamot, then Turkish rose, oud wood and incense, then vanilla, amber and woody notes. That lines up with the original's lists, but we have no commenter account of how it differs.

The price is a sale price on the house's EU shop, and promotions differ by country, so check the dated table above before you rely on it.

Fresher take: Very Good Girl

Very Good Girl by Carolina Herrera is a designer perfume in its own right, not a clone, so hedge it. Parfumo's comparison page shows 62 of 143 voting members finding it similar. Members classify it fruity, sweet, floral and fresh, where Delina Exclusif reads floral, sweet, fruity, creamy and powdery.

A forum member who tried both Delinas in store found Delina Exclusif much closer to Very Good Girl than the original Delina, but more powdery. Another member of the clones thread names it as the closest you will get among designer perfumes.

The main difference is freshness and a fruitier feel. It suits you if you like Delina Exclusif's idea but want it less powdery.

Premium alternative: Lady Diana Exclusive

Lady Diana Exclusive by Alexandria Fragrances is the highest-priced bottle made in Exclusif's style. The house presents it as its Extrait de Parfum interpretation inspired by Delina Exclusif. It lists litchi, pear and bergamot, then Turkish rose, agarwood (oud) and incense, then vanilla, amber, woody notes and musk. Do not confuse it with its sister, Lady Diana, which is the original-Delina version.

A forum member lists it among the perfumes made in the style of Delina Exclusif. On Fragrantica, one commenter finds it Delina with a twist, a little sweeter and with more depth. Another, who had not smelled Delina Exclusif, reports very long wear but a dry-down that turned to strong baby powder after a few weeks.

The evidence is thin: the house's statement, one forum listing and two commenters. Choose it if you want a richer, sweeter reading and accept that the powder is a risk.

What every clone gets wrong

One owner of three alternatives finds the original's candied-rose start missing from all of them. Creaminess is the other gap: Rose Couture is not as creamy and enveloping, and one commenter finds Prive Rose a little more bubblegum-like.

Powder cuts both ways. Some commenters find a clone less powdery, others find baby powder arriving late. Check the dry-down before you commit to a full bottle.

Other perfumes in the same territory

If you would rather wear a rose-and-vanilla perfume than chase a match, 10ML decants several in the same family. Impadia by BDK Parfums has Bulgarian and Turkish rose over sandalwood and vanilla, and fewer than half of Parfumo voters find it similar to Delina Exclusif.

How to test a Delina Exclusif clone against the original

Test on skin, not paper. Paper hides how a dry-down turns.

Wear Delina Exclusif on one day and the clone on another, same spot, same amount. Note the first minutes for the candied rose and the pear, then what is left late in the day. One owner of three alternatives found their dry-downs close to the original's.

A 3ml decant of the original is € 14,58 and gives about 60 sprays, enough to compare it with any clone on several days. A 10ml decant gives about 200 sprays for wearing it for weeks, and a 30ml decant about 600 to keep.
