What does Le Male smell like?

Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, launched in 1995, opens on lavender, mint, cardamom, bergamot and artemisia. Cinnamon, caraway and orange blossom make up the heart. The base is vanilla, tonka bean, amber, sandalwood and cedar. It reads as aromatic and fresh spicy first, then warm spicy, powdery and sweet. That pull between cool lavender and warm vanilla is what the clones below are judged on. You can wear the original first: a 3ml decant is € 7,74. Caline Infinite Navy is judged here against Le Male. Parfumo's comparison page shows 379 of 399 voting members finding it similar to Le Male Eau de Toilette. It lists the same outline for both: lavender, mint, cardamom and bergamot; cinnamon and caraway; tonka bean, vanilla, amber, sandalwood and cedarwood.

The documented difference is performance: Parfumo members score Infinite Navy lower than Le Male Eau de Toilette for longevity and sillage. It suits you if you want the Le Male outline and can accept those lower scores. It is a weaker fit if you expect it to carry as far as the original. Maison Alhambra Glacier Pour Homme is also judged against Le Male, and Fragrantica members who own Le Male disagree about it. Several compare it directly. Some find it very close, one after wearing it beside a family member's Le Male. Others find it too sweet, quiet in projection, or in need of weeks of resting before it settles. One finds it the weakest of three Le Male clones they own.

Fragrantica lists lavender, mint, cardamom and bergamot; orange blossom, cinnamon and caraway; vanilla, tonka bean, amber and sandalwood. The "softer" label rests on the members who call it quiet in projection. It suits you if you want a gentler Le Male and can wait for it to settle. The basis is those Fragrantica comments.

FIORE lists Malia as its Duftzwilling of Le Male, so Le Male is the original it is judged against. FIORE's own page describes fresh mint, lavender and sweet vanilla, and its own profile scores sweetness 4 of 5. FIORE sells it as an extrait de parfum.

The "sweeter" label rests only on that description. No community comparison was found, so how Malia differs from Le Male on skin is not documented. It suits you if you want to start from a sweet vanilla reading of the Le Male idea, and you accept that the only evidence is the house's own words.

What does Le Male Elixir smell like?

Le Male Elixir, launched in 2023, keeps lavender and mint on top. Vanilla and benzoin sit in the heart, above honey, tonka bean and tobacco. It reads as sweet and amber, with an aromatic, lavender side. Four picks below are judged against it, so this is where a Le Male Elixir dupe search ends up.

Lattafa The Kingdom for Men is judged against Le Male Elixir. Parfumo's comparison page shows 255 of 266 voting members finding it similar to the Elixir, with lavender, tonka bean and benzoin listed for both.

On Fragrantica, members who own Le Male Elixir find it very close in direction but less sweet, more aromatic and minty, with less honey. They add that the opening can smell synthetic before it settles. One prefers the Elixir's richer, creamier vanilla-honey dry-down. It suits you if the Elixir feels too sweet and you want a cooler, mintier version. The basis is the Parfumo count and those Fragrantica comments.

Armaf Club de Nuit Lionheart Man is judged against Le Male Elixir. Parfumo's comparison page shows 62 of 66 voting members finding it similar to the Elixir. Armaf's own page lists lavender, mint, benzoin, vanilla, honey, tonka bean and tobacco, the same set of notes as Le Male Elixir. The page does not name Le Male Elixir.

"Lowest price" means the lowest price per ml among the clones with a listed price; the table on this page shows it. It suits you if the note list matters to you and price decides. The basis is the Parfumo count and Armaf's note list.

Rasasi Hawas Elixir is judged against Le Male Elixir. Parfumo's comparison page shows 98 of 103 voting members finding it similar. Parfumo lists artemisia, bergamot, mint, lavender, benzoin and tonka bean for both. It lists dark chocolate and white musk for Hawas Elixir only.

Those two extra listed notes are the documented difference, and the "darker" label rests on them. On Lattafa The Kingdom for Men's Fragrantica page, a member who owns several perfumes in the Le Male Elixir style ranks Hawas Elixir third for closeness and first for loudness. It suits you if you want the Elixir's listed notes plus the listed dark chocolate. The basis is the Parfumo count and that one member's ranking.

FIORE lists Cadiz as its Duftzwilling of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir, so that is its comparison point. FIORE's own page lists bergamot, mint and lavender; tonka bean and benzoin; vanilla, woody notes and amber. FIORE sells it as an extrait de parfum.

The "premium" label rests only on that statement. No community comparison was found, so going by the lists alone, Cadiz shares the Elixir's lavender, mint, benzoin, tonka bean and vanilla, and swaps honey and tobacco for woody notes and amber. How it smells or wears is not documented. It suits you if you prefer to rely on the house's own list and want to try it in a small size.

What does Le Male Le Parfum smell like?

Le Male Le Parfum, launched in 2020 by perfumers Natalie Gracia-Cetto and Quentin Bisch, opens on cardamom. Lavender and iris form the heart, over vanilla, oriental notes and woody notes. It reads as warm spicy, powdery and aromatic. If you search for a Le Male Le Parfum dupe, the pick below is the one with a comparison on record.

Maison Alhambra Glacier Le Noir is judged against Le Male Le Parfum. Parfumo's comparison page shows 70 of 79 voting members finding it similar, with cardamom, iris, lavender and vanilla listed for both.

On Fragrantica, members who know Le Male Le Parfum disagree on how close it gets. One finds it a close budget alternative. Another finds it close, though not the same. A third finds it sharper and less smooth than the original. It suits you if you like the Le Parfum direction and can live with a sharper finish. The basis is the Parfumo count and those three Fragrantica comments.

Le Male Elixir Absolu: why no clone is listed

Le Male Elixir Absolu, launched in 2025 as a parfum, opens on bergamot, cardamom, cinnamon and plum. Artemisia, davana and lavender form the heart, over ambrette, benzoin, labdanum, patchouli and tonka bean. We found no clone with a community comparison for it, so no clone is named here. The honest way to know it is a 3ml decant of the original, which is € 7,56.

What every Le Male clone gets wrong

Going by the sources above, the documented differences vary from pick to pick. Infinite Navy scores lower for longevity and sillage on Parfumo. Glacier Pour Homme is called too sweet by some Fragrantica members and quiet by others. Fragrantica members who own the Elixir find Lattafa The Kingdom for Men less sweet, with less honey, and say its opening can smell synthetic. Parfumo lists dark chocolate and white musk for Hawas Elixir only. One member finds Glacier Le Noir sharper and less smooth. For Malia and Cadiz no community comparison was found, and for Armaf Club de Nuit Lionheart Man only the Parfumo count and Armaf's note list are documented, so their differences are unknown.

That is why a Le Male clone is worth trying only after you know the original on your own skin.

How to test a Le Male clone against the original

Test on skin, not on paper. A blotter shows the opening and hides how a scent settles. Wear Le Male on one day and a clone on another, in the same spot, and note what changes once each has settled late in the day.

Watch for the points members raise above: how sweet Glacier Pour Homme and Lattafa The Kingdom for Men turn out, how the opening of Lattafa The Kingdom for Men settles, and how smooth Glacier Le Noir feels. If a clone needs resting, as some Fragrantica members say of Glacier Pour Homme, give it time before you judge it.
