The cabin rule: 100 ml per container
At most EU airports, liquids in hand luggage must be in containers of 100 ml or less, and all of them must fit in one clear, resealable plastic bag of about one litre. Perfume counts as a liquid.
The limit is the size of the container, not how much is left in it. A half-empty 150 ml bottle is still a 150 ml bottle.
Some airports with newer scanners accept larger containers, and the rules can change. Check your departure airport, and the one you fly home from, before you pack.
Why 10ml and 30ml are made for this
Both are far under 100 ml, so either goes in the clear bag with room to spare. A 10ml is around 200 sprays, plenty for a long trip. A 30ml is around 600, for the scent you never travel without.

Spray counts are estimates. How long a scent lasts on skin depends on the perfume, not on the bottle it came in.
Perfume in checked luggage
Perfume is allowed in checked bags too. The dangerous-goods rules airlines follow (set by IATA) treat it as a toiletry: up to 0.5 litre per item, and up to 2 litres of toiletries per person in total. Your airline may set its own limits, so check before you pack.
Packing tips
- Keep decants in the clear bag near the top of your case, so security can see them without unpacking.
- Keep the cap on. Pressure changes in flight can push a little liquid through any spray.
- Keep perfume out of direct sun and hot cars. Heat and light wear a scent down over time.
- Bring one scent per mood, not one per day: one fresh and one warm covers most trips.

Can I bring perfume in my hand luggage?
Yes, in containers of 100 ml or less, inside your clear liquids bag. A 3ml, 10ml or 30ml decant fits easily. Some airports differ, so check yours before you fly.
Can I pack a full perfume bottle in checked luggage?
Usually, yes. IATA’s rules allow toiletries of up to 0.5 litre per item and 2 litres per person in total. Your airline may set its own limits.
Does the 100 ml rule count the container or what is inside?
The container. A bottle over 100 ml can be refused at security even when it is nearly empty.
