Kajal is a Paris niche house that Ibrahim Faris and Moe Khalaf started in 2012, drawing on kohl, the dark eye pigment of Indian tradition, and on the Arabic ideal of modesty and dignity. The perfumes are polished and generous: fruit and citrus over amber, sandalwood and patchouli, with a thread of oud in places. Start with Lamar, sweet and juicy with a fresh edge. Dahab is fruity and musky, soft rather than sugary. For men, Kajal Homme brings citrus and warm spice over woods. Try two or three together and the house style comes into focus.
