Tom Ford launched his own fragrance line in 2005, a year before Black Orchid arrived and set the tone: dark, glamorous and a little provocative. The range leans warm and spicy, with amber, vanilla and tonka bean at its core, and cardamom, saffron or leather adding edge. Jasmine and orange blossom bring a sensual floral thread. The Private Blend line, introduced in 2007, is where the house plays most freely. Tobacco Vanille is its cosy classic of pipe tobacco and spice, Oud Wood is smoother and drier than the name suggests, and Lost Cherry is a boozy cherry-almond treat.
