Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham, and its perfumes have a spare, Scandinavian clarity. Musk and sandalwood sit under most of them, with violet, blackcurrant and pink pepper for colour and aldehydes for a clean, airy lift. Bal d'Afrique Absolu and the original Bal d'Afrique lead the way, the second a bright mix of citrus, flowers and woods. Gypsy Water is fresh and aromatic over soft woods.
