How Valaya opens and settles

Valaya launched in 2023 and the catalogue lists it for women. It does not name a perfumer or a concentration for it, so this guide leaves both out.

The top is the busiest part. Aldehydes and white peach come first, joined by bergamot and mandarin orange, which gives a bright, slightly fizzy start with soft fruit in it. The heart then turns floral: orange blossom, Petalia, lily-of-the-valley, Nympheal, vetiver and mahonia. The base finishes with musk, Ambroxan, Akigalawood and vanilla.

Its listed accords are musky, citrus, fresh, white floral and aldehydic, followed by powdery, fruity, amber, woody and sweet. Put plainly, the perfume moves from sparkling fruit and citrus into white flowers, then into a soft musky base with a trace of vanilla. Valaya and Valaya Exclusif side by side

Parfums de Marly lists a second perfume in the family, Valaya Exclusif, from 2025. Both are listed for women, and 10ML sells each one. Their note lists take different routes.

Valaya Exclusif swaps the aldehydes and white peach for almond, and its heart narrows to jasmine, orange blossom and white flowers. Sandalwood joins the base, where Valaya has musk. Its accords are powdery, citrus, almond, woody and white floral, followed by musky, sweet, vanilla, amber and nutty.

The votes differ as well. For Exclusif, longevity votes lean towards "long lasting", with "eternal" next. Community sillage votes are clearer, with "strong" on top. Those are bolder votes than Valaya's "moderate" sillage, and its season and time-of-day votes are wider. If you want the lighter, daytime perfume, start with Valaya; if almond, sandalwood and a stronger presence appeal, Exclusif is the one to add. A wear test for 3ml decants

A single spray on paper shows you the aldehydes and little else. Valaya has a long note list, so it needs skin and time. With about 60 sprays in a 3ml, you can repeat the routine over several days.

1. Day one, a mild morning. Put two sprays on clean skin and leave it alone. Write down the first thing you notice: the fizz of aldehydes, the peach or the bergamot.
2. Judge after an hour. The opening should have settled. Ask whether the orange blossom and lily-of-the-valley have arrived, and whether it reads as fresh or powdery to you.
3. Check at the end of the day. Look at what remains. The base is musk with Ambroxan, Akigalawood and vanilla, so listen for the musk and the vanilla.
4. Day two, wear it for work. The catalogue occasion is work and voters pick day, so try it somewhere you would normally wear a perfume. Notice whether it stays pleasant at close range.
5. Day three, add a warmer afternoon. Spring is the season voters pick, but warmth changes citrus and musk. See how it handles a few degrees more.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Pure Musc Blanc is the newest of the three, from 2026, and the catalogue credits Sonia Constant. Clean notes, aldehydes, jasmine and bergamot open it. Musk and white flowers form the heart, and vanilla, cedarwood and amber close it.

Its accords are white floral, fresh, musky, aldehydic, powdery, vanilla, animalic, woody and soapy. Community voters pick spring, summer and fall, and day. It shares Valaya's aldehydes and white flowers but swaps the fruit for a soapier, cleaner feel. Sample it if musk was the part of Valaya you enjoyed most.

Musk Therapy by Initio Parfums Prives

Musk Therapy dates from 2021. It begins with white musk, musk, black currant, bergamot and mandarin orange. The heart pairs magnolia with Hedione, and white sandalwood is the only base note.

Its accords are citrus, musky, floral, powdery, fruity, woody, fresh spicy, green, aromatic and animalic. For longevity, votes lean "long lasting", then "moderate"; sillage votes put "moderate" first and "strong" second. Spring is its season, and voters pick day and office wear. Petit Matin by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
