Perfume samples price per ml in 2026: travel sprays, minis, discovery sets and decants, measured

This is 10ML's check of 24 perfumes on 12 official house stores, set beside the 10ML Price-per-ml Index. It belongs to 10ML's perfume market and prices research.

What each way of trying a perfume costs per ml

On the houses' own EU stores on 8 October 2026, no travel spray, mini or discovery set cost less per ml than the same perfume's largest bottle. Travel sprays and minis ran from about a quarter more (Xerjoff's 2ml minis) to nearly four times as much (the Parfums de Marly travel set, case included, against the 200ml Layton).

10ML's October 2026 check of official house stores recorded 104 price rows. The rows cover 24 perfumes from 12 houses. Each row is one format a house sells: a full bottle, a travel spray, a mini, a refill or a discovery set. Price per ml is the price divided by the total ml in the pack.

The table below lays out every format for three perfumes. It runs from the highest price per ml to the lowest. All prices are the houses' list prices on that day, VAT included.

Two patterns stand out. The largest bottle sits at or near the bottom. A discovery set can land anywhere, because its price per ml depends on how many vials it holds and how big they are.

Angels' Share shows the widest spread. Its 3 × 7.5ml discovery set has the highest price per ml of all 104 rows in the check. Its 100ml refill has the lowest price per ml of its formats, below even the 250ml carafe. Delina's 3 × 10ml travel set tops its ladder. Its 5 × 10ml discovery set matches the 75ml bottle exactly. J'adore falls step by step from the 20ml travel spray to the 150ml bottle.

What makes up a bottle's price is the subject of 10ML's research on where the money in a bottle goes, per ml.

Travel sprays and minis against the full bottle

A travel spray buys convenience, not value. Kilian's 7.5ml Angels' Share travel spray cost about twice as much per ml as its 250ml bottle on 8 October 2026.

The gap was widest at Parfums de Marly. Its 3 × 10ml travel set includes a refillable atomiser case. Per ml, the set cost roughly twice the 75ml Delina bottle. Against the 200ml Layton bottle, it cost nearly four times as much.

Designer travel sprays showed the same direction at lower prices per ml. Jean Paul Gaultier's 15ml Le Male travel spray cost more than twice its 200ml bottle per ml. Dior's 20ml J'adore travel spray cost a little more per ml than its 30ml bottle. Against the 150ml J'adore, it cost about twice as much. Jo Malone London's 9ml travel sizes cost a little more per ml than its 30ml bottles.

Xerjoff's 2ml minis showed the smallest gap of any travel spray or mini in the check. They cost about a quarter more per ml than the 100ml bottle on Xerjoff's EUR store. Several perfumes had no travel spray or mini at all. On Byredo's EU store, the smallest single bottle of Gypsy Water was 50ml.

Set against those small formats, the largest bottle of each perfume tells the other half of the story. Dior's 1000ml Eau Sauvage had the lowest price per ml of any largest bottle in the check. Delina's largest bottle on its house store was 75ml, and it has the highest price per ml in this second table.

People buy small sizes anyway. Circana measured +15%² growth in US unit sales of mini and travel-size fragrances in H1 2025. In Circana's report, that was nearly four times the rate of other sizes. Discovery sets: the price of trying several scents at once

A discovery set's price per ml is the price of sampling the whole set, not of one perfume. In the October 2026 check it ranged from less than the smallest bottle's price per ml (Le Male's 4 × 4ml set against its 40ml bottle) to about three and a half times the largest bottle's (the Rabanne 3 × 5ml miniature coffret that includes 1 Million).

Most discovery sets hold several different perfumes. For nine of the 24 perfumes, the check found at least one set that includes them.

At the low end, Jean Paul Gaultier's 4 × 4ml kit cost less per ml than the 40ml Le Male bottle. It still cost more per ml than the 200ml Le Male bottle. Rabanne's 3 × 4ml kit cost about half as much again as its 200ml bottle per ml. Its 3 × 5ml miniature coffret cost about three and a half times that bottle per ml, the widest gap of any set.

At the top of the price-per-ml range, Kilian's 3 × 7.5ml set holds three variants of Angels' Share in a decorative case. Per ml, it cost nearly three times the 250ml bottle. Kilian's 5 × 1.5ml set cost only about a sixth more than that bottle.

Parfums de Marly sells two sets for each of its two perfumes here. The 5 × 10ml set that includes Delina matched the 75ml Delina bottle per ml. The 5 × 10ml set that includes Layton cost roughly twice the 200ml Layton bottle per ml.

Byredo sells a 3 × 12ml travel edition that includes Gypsy Water and two other perfumes. It cost roughly twice the 250ml Gypsy Water bottle per ml. Xerjoff's 3 × 15ml set that includes Erba Pura also cost roughly twice its 100ml bottle per ml.

Some sets give their price back. Kilian's 5 × 1.5ml set, the Jean Paul Gaultier and Rabanne 4ml kits and one Xerjoff kit return it as a voucher or code on a later order. The per-ml figures in this research ignore the voucher, because it only pays out if you buy again from that house.

Where decants sit on the price-per-ml ladder

Across the perfumes 10ML stocks, a 3ml decant costs a median €3.60/ml¹ and a 30ml decant €2.57/ml¹ (10ML member price, VAT included). The per-ml price falls by a median 28%¹ from 3ml to 30ml.

A 10ml decant sits between them, at a median €3.05/ml¹ in 2026. The step from 3ml to 10ml saves a median 15%¹ per ml. The step from 10ml to 30ml saves a median 16%¹ per ml. All three figures use the 10ML member price, VAT included, across the perfumes 10ML stocks.

Designer and niche decants sit at different levels. In the 10ml size, a designer decant costs a median €2.41/ml¹ and a niche decant €3.73/ml¹ (10ML member price, VAT included, across the perfumes 10ML stocks). 10ML's research on how much more niche costs than designer, per ml measures that gap in detail.

The index covers 1,060¹ perfumes from 89¹ houses. These are 10ML's own prices, not a market average.

The table below sets each house's small format beside the live price per ml of a 10ml decant of the same perfume. The house column is fixed to 8 October 2026. The 10ML column updates with the catalogue.

Read it row by row. A house price and a decant price are only comparable for the same perfume and a similar amount. The Gypsy Water set holds three different perfumes, so its row compares a set with a single scent.

If you would rather wear one perfume for weeks than a few sprays of many, a 10ml decant of J'adore costs €22.50 today. A 30ml decant of Angels' Share costs €128.70, or €4.29/ml. Both are 10ML member prices, VAT included.

How many sprays you get, and how long a size lasts

A 3ml decant holds around 60 sprays, a 10ml around 200 and a 30ml around 600. At three sprays a day that is about three weeks, two months and more than six months.

These are 10ML's own estimates. 10ML gives them as 'around', because the count depends on the atomiser and the perfume. How long a scent stays on skin belongs to the perfume itself, not to the bottle size.

10ML has no spray estimates for the houses' own small formats. Their ml is the fair way to compare them. A 7.5ml travel spray holds three quarters of a 10ml decant. A 2ml mini holds two thirds of a 3ml decant. A 1.5ml vial holds half the perfume of a 3ml decant.

A discovery set spreads its ml across several scents. A Parfums de Marly 7 × 1.5ml set holds about as much perfume in total as one 10ml decant, split over seven perfumes. That is a good way to compare a house's range and a short way to live with any one scent.

Why so many people try before they buy

In the two surveys available, most people discover a scent by sampling it. 60%¹⁵ of US perfume users and 63%¹⁶ of Britons told YouGov in 2025 that they find new perfumes by sampling in store.

These surveys cover the United States and Britain only. This research holds no EU-wide survey on the same question. A poll asking the same question across EU countries would answer it for Europe.

Circana's US data points the same way. Unit sales of mini and travel-size fragrances grew +15%² in H1 2025, according to Circana: US beauty industry grows in the first half of 2025².

A spray on a paper strip is the first step. Wearing a scent for a week is the second, and it is the one that settles a blind buy. 10ML's list of safe blind buy perfumes covers the styles that are easiest to choose unseen.

How 10ML collected these prices

10ML recorded every format sold for 24 perfumes on 12 official house stores in the EU on 8 October 2026. Prices and ml were read from each product page. Third-party shops, promotions and free samples were left out.

The stores were the French official stores for 10 houses, plus the EU-wide euro stores of Byredo and Xerjoff. Prices on French stores include French VAT of 20%¹⁷, according to Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 2026¹⁷. Each price came from the page's structured data, its product data or the visible price after choosing each size in a real browser.

The perfume name, concentration and ml were confirmed on the same page. Price per ml is the price divided by the ml per item times the number of items. Six rows were fetched again later the same day to confirm the price.

Some formats were left out. Discovery sets whose page did not name the scents inside were excluded, including sets from Le Labo and Initio. Jo Malone London's cologne discovery set was excluded because its page gave no ml per vial. A 150ml Good Girl listing on the Carolina Herrera store looked like a data error and was excluded.

Two rows needed a label. Kilian's 250ml size is a decorative carafe, recorded as the largest full bottle. Parfums de Marly files the 30ml Delina under travel formats; it is recorded as a 30ml full bottle.

Several houses are not covered. The L'Oréal Luxe stores for YSL, Lancôme, Armani, Mugler, Prada and Valentino blocked automated requests. Guerlain, Hermès, Givenchy and one Paris niche house blocked the browser. Creed, Louis Vuitton and one more designer house had no reachable official euro product page in the collection window. That is a limit of this check, not a finding about those houses.
