What does Guidance smell like?
Guidance by Amouage came out in 2023 and is listed for women. The top pairs pear with hazelnut and olibanum, so fruit, a nutty note and a line of resin arrive together. Its heart is floral and spiced: osmanthus, rose, saffron and jasmine sambac. The base is warm and balsamic, built from sandalwood, vanilla, Akigalawood, ambergris and labdanum. The listed accords start at woody and amber and reach fruity, nutty and powdery. Amouage gives its own note list on its Guidance page.
That mix is what makes Guidance hard to follow. Pear on its own is easy; pear with nut, osmanthus, saffron and resin in one line is not.
Guidance or Guidance 46?
In 2024 Amouage added Guidance 46, an Exceptional Extrait. It is a separate perfume, not a stronger Guidance: a rosier, creamier composition of its own. Its heart keeps the same four notes: osmanthus, rose, saffron and jasmine sambac. Up top, rose water, bitter almond and pink pepper join pear, hazelnut and frankincense. Below, ambrette, Georgywood and cypriol sit with sandalwood, Akigalawood, vanilla, ambergris and labdanum, and the accord list takes in rose and oud. Where it departs is weight. Fragrantica members who know Guidance describe Decadent Dream as lighter, sweeter and less complex. On the Fragrantica forum, one member sums it up as a lighter Guidance, with very similar top notes and a creamier, sweeter base.

Closest on the dry-down: Lumora
Lumora by Monkoku has the most direct link to the original on Parfumo. Its Parfumo page puts Guidance Eau de Parfum at the head of its similar scents. The comparison page shows most voting members calling the pair similar, and the two note lists there share pear, hazelnut, rose, saffron, vanilla and cistus. No source here sets the two dry-downs against each other; the pick rests on that similar list and those votes.
The main difference sits in the base: Lumora has oud there, and Guidance lists none. The leading write-up on its Parfumo page places it very close to the Eau de Parfum rather than to Guidance 46, while admitting it made no direct comparison.

On paper, Bayn Al Asrar by Paris Corner carries the Guidance list. Fragrantica gives hazelnut, pear and olibanum first; rose, osmanthus, saffron and jasmine sambac next; and vanilla, sandalwood, labdanum, ambergris and Akigalawood last.
Its difference is an airier feel with rose further forward. An editorial on Fragrantica says people often put it forward as a lower-priced alternative to Guidance, and pictures an airy, creamy pear, with rose, jasmine and saffron, over a dry sandalwood base. One member, commenting on Fragrantica's Signature Pearl page, calls it a very light Guidance led more by rose.

Stellar Amber by Zara is here because of what wearers say, not because of a note list. On Parfumo's comparison page, most voting members call it similar to Guidance. None of our sources gives its notes, so this section sticks to wearers' descriptions.
The main difference is depth. Members on its Fragrantica page who have worn both describe Stellar Amber as lighter, fruitier and less powdery, and Guidance as deeper, woodier and nuttier. Several add that it only comes into stock now and then; the table has no EU list price for it.

Sweeter take: Musk pour Amber
Musk pour Amber by Khadlaj covers much of the Guidance outline on paper. Its Fragrantica listing names frankincense, pear and bergamot; hazelnut, rose and jasmine sambac; then vanilla and cedarwood. On Parfumo's comparison page, more than half of the voting members call the pair similar.
Spice is where it parts company. A Parfumo member who compared the Guidance alternatives misses the spice of Guidance and finds it sweeter instead: pear and incense, hazelnut cream, jasmine, clean musk and vanilla. On the lists alone, saffron and osmanthus are absent, and cedarwood takes the place of sandalwood.

Lowest price: Mahab
Among the clones with a price in the table, Mahab by Nusuk costs least, both per bottle and per ml. Most voting members on Parfumo's comparison page call Mahab and Guidance similar, and the notes that page lists for both are frankincense, osmanthus, rose and sandalwood.
Fennel is the difference. One member who tried several Guidance alternatives, posting on Fragrantica's Signature Pearl page, found the fennel in Mahab prominent and disliked it. That is a single opinion, but Guidance lists no fennel.

Where the clones part ways
Read the six sections together and one word keeps returning: lighter, often with sweeter beside it. Wearers use it for Decadent Dream, Bayn Al Asrar and Stellar Amber, and Musk pour Amber is called sweeter with less spice. When a clone brings something new, it is a note Guidance does not list: oud in Lumora, fennel in Mahab.
Guidance leans the other way. Its list keeps the spice of saffron and the resin of olibanum and labdanum beside the fruit and the nut, and wearers who know both call Guidance deeper, woodier and nuttier than Stellar Amber.
A clone bottle, or the original by the decant?
Every clone that carries a price in the table works out cheaper per ml than any size of the original. Decadent Dream and Stellar Amber have no price there: we found no EU list price for either on the check date. Guidance costs €47.61 for a 10ml decant (€4.76/ml), and €113.40 for a 30ml (€3.78/ml). If this style is already a favourite and you want to spray it without counting, a clone bottle buys more millilitres.
Buying to decide is different. €16.11 gets you a 3ml of Guidance, around 60 sprays, and €20.61 gets a 3ml of Guidance 46 if you want to wear both versions in the same week. A week in the original tells you what a clone has to live up to. The catalogue-wide numbers are in our price per ml index.
Authentic perfumes in the same family
Three originals from other houses share the pear or the rose of Guidance. Impadia by BDK Parfums, from 2025, sets pear with bergamot and mandarin, moves to African orange flower with Bulgarian and Turkish rose, and rests on Akigalawood, sandalwood and vanilla. Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly, launched in 2018, starts with litchi, pear, bergamot, grapefruit and pink pepper, puts Turkish rose, oud and incense in the heart, and ends on vanilla, amber, musk and vetiver. Musc Nurasana by Maison Crivelli, a 2026 extrait de parfum, places Damask rose and frankincense between a top of bergamot, cardamom and ginger and a base of fir, labdanum, musk and tonka bean. How to test a dupe
A paper strip mostly shows the opening, so compare a clone with the original on skin. Spray the original one day and the clone on a different day, in the same place. Smell each one right after you spray it, then again a little later, and leave the base until evening before you judge it. Keeping them to separate days stops one scent colouring your memory of the other.
With Guidance, compare the base notes most closely: sandalwood, vanilla, ambergris and labdanum. A 3ml of Guidance gives you a fair week to compare. If Guidance wins, choose a 10ml decant, around 200 sprays, to wear it daily for weeks, or a 30ml, around 600 sprays, once you know you want it on hand. First time with decants?
