Perfume prices across Europe in 2026: the same bottle, a different price per ml in 13 countries
On one day in October 2026 we read official house stores in thirteen EU countries. Some houses keep one euro price, others set a price per country, and VAT explains only part of the gap.
In this guide
Perfume prices Europe-wide are not uniform. In 10ML's check of official house stores on 8 October 2026, the same 100ml La Vie Est Belle cost 27.9% more in Hungary than in Germany. Standard VAT in 2026 is 27%1 in Hungary and 19%1 in Germany, according to Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 20261, so tax explains only part of the gap.

The figures come from 10ML's October 2026 check of official house stores in 13 EU countries, part of 10ML's perfume market and prices research. 10ML charges one euro price, VAT included, in every EU country it delivers to. In the 10ML Price-per-ml Index, the median price per ml of a 10ml decant is €3.05/ml2, 10ML member price, VAT included, across the perfumes 10ML stocks.

How much the same perfume's price differs across Europe
On the houses' own stores on 8 October 2026, the widest gap was Lancôme's La Vie Est Belle at 100ml: the highest price, in Hungary, was 27.9% above the lowest, in Germany. That is a little over a quarter more for the same bottle from the same house.
10ML tried 39 perfumes from 20 houses. Of those, 29 showed a price, and 27 had a price in at least two of the 13 countries. Among the perfumes whose price varied between countries, the gap between the lowest and the highest country ran from 2.7% to 27.9%.
Five perfumes had a gap of 15.6% or more, and all five came from Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent or Giorgio Armani. Dior's four perfumes had gaps between 5.6% and 12.8%, and each of those gaps came from a single country, Poland. Prada's two perfumes had gaps of 6.1% and 14.6%, both from the Czech Republic.

The gap is the highest regular price over the lowest, in euro, for one bottle size. Prices in złoty, koruna, forint and leu were converted at the ECB euro reference rates of 7 October 2026, so another day's rate moves those rows slightly. Other sizes of the same perfume can be priced differently across countries.
Lancôme also showed the most variety in the check. It had nine different prices for La Vie Est Belle across 11 countries. Yves Saint Laurent priced Black Opium at six different levels in seven countries. Dior, by contrast, showed just two prices for each of its perfumes.

A shelf price is only the last line of a longer sum. Where the money in a bottle of perfume goes, per ml splits it into its parts, from the bottle to the tax.
Houses that set one price for most of Europe
Dior charged the same euro price in 12 of 13 countries for J'adore, Sauvage, Miss Dior and Dior Homme Intense, with Poland, its only non-euro price, higher by 5.6% to 12.8%. That covers Dior Sauvage and Dior J'adore, both checked at 100ml.
Dior's Czech, Hungarian and Romanian stores price in euro, not in local currency. Poland is the one country among the 13 where Dior showed a złoty price. Converted at the ECB rate of 7 October 2026, the Polish price was 12.8% above the common euro price for J'adore. It was 7% higher for Sauvage, 6.9% higher for Miss Dior and 5.6% higher for Dior Homme Intense.
Prada follows a similar pattern. Prada Paradigme had one price at 100ml in eight countries: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Greece and Ireland. The Czech store, priced in koruna, came out 14.6% higher in euro. L'Homme Prada showed the same split, with the Czech price 6.1% above the rest. Three of the Paradigme prices, for France, Spain and Belgium, were read from the page's structured data rather than its visible text.
Jo Malone London showed one price for both of the perfumes 10ML checked, but it runs stores in only seven of the 13 countries, too few to call it a Europe-wide price. Hermès also showed one price for each perfume, but 10ML could read each one in at most three countries, too few to call it a policy.
Why would a house hold one price? The check records prices, not motives. What it does show is the arithmetic: when the shelf price is fixed, the house keeps less before tax wherever VAT is higher. Only a house's own statement could say why it chooses that.
10ML works the same way at its own scale. A 10ml decant of Sauvage costs €23.40 at 10ML, VAT included, in every EU country 10ML delivers to. A 30ml decant of J'adore works out at €2.00/ml, with the same price wherever you order from.
Houses that price country by country
Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani set different prices per country: Black Opium at 90ml ranged 20.8% between Spain and the Netherlands and Belgium. These three houses produced the five widest gaps in the check.
Lancôme La Vie Est Belle had the widest gap of all, 27.9%, between Germany and Hungary. Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium was lowest in Spain and highest in the Netherlands and Belgium. Giorgio Armani Sì at 100ml was lowest in Austria and highest in the Netherlands and Belgium, a gap of 16.1%.
The other perfumes from Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani drew the same map. Y at 100ml was 19.2% dearer in the Netherlands and Belgium than in Germany and Austria. Libre at 90ml was 15.6% dearer in the Netherlands and Belgium than in Austria. Stronger With You Intensely at 100ml was 13% dearer in those two countries than in Austria.
Across all five Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani perfumes, the Netherlands and Belgium shared the highest price every time. The lowest price always sat in Spain, Germany or Austria.
That order does not track VAT step by step. Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium all charge 21%1 standard VAT in 2026, according to Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 20261. Yet they sat at opposite ends of the Black Opium range.
Three of these houses ran sitewide sales on some country stores on 8 October 2026. In each case 10ML recorded the struck-through regular price, so the gaps compare list prices, not discounts or member offers.
If you are choosing between these perfumes rather than between countries, our guide to perfumes for women by style is a better place to start.
How much of the gap is VAT
Only part of it: for 2026, Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 20261 lists standard VAT as low as 17%1 for Luxembourg and as high as 27%1 for Hungary, yet Dior charged Germany (19%1) and Hungary the same euro price, so the house keeps less before tax in Hungary.

Source: 1. Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 2026
Perfume is taxed at the standard VAT rate across the EU. VAT sits on top of the pre-tax price. At Hungary's rate it is a little over a fifth of the shelf price. At Germany's rate it is a little under a sixth. Luxembourg, at the bottom of the EU table, was not among the 13 countries checked.
Rates also move. Romania raised its standard rate from 19%1 to 21%1 on 1 August 20251, according to Tax Foundation: VAT Rates in Europe, as of January 20261.
If VAT alone set prices, the order of countries would follow the rates. La Vie Est Belle shows where it does and where it does not. Germany, with the lowest rate among the 13 countries at 19%1, had the lowest price. Hungary, with the highest at 27%1, had the highest.
The middle breaks the pattern. Ireland, at 23%1, was priced level with France and below Italy, at 22%1. Five countries at a 21%1 rate, Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Belgium, spread across the middle and upper part of the range. Poland and Ireland share a 23%1 rate, and Poland's price was higher in euro.
Dior shows the other side of the same coin. Its shelf price for Sauvage was the same in Germany and Hungary. The pre-tax price in Hungary was therefore about a sixteenth lower than in Germany: the house, not the buyer, absorbed the higher tax.
Country by country: Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the rest
Germany and Austria were most often among the lowest prices for country-priced perfumes, and the Netherlands and Belgium most often among the highest, in 10ML's October 2026 check. The Lancôme table shows one perfume across 11 countries.

- Italy: in the middle of the La Vie Est Belle range, while Dior and Prada matched their common euro price. Standard VAT is 22%1.
- Netherlands and Belgium: the highest price for all five Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani perfumes, and joint second highest for La Vie Est Belle. Both charge 21%1 standard VAT.
- Poland: Dior's only non-euro price, 5.6% to 12.8% above the rest in euro. Diptyque's two perfumes were also higher there. Standard VAT is 23%1.
- Czech Republic: the highest price for both Prada perfumes. Dior prices in euro there and matched its common price.
- Hungary: the highest La Vie Est Belle and the highest standard VAT among the 13, at 27%1. Dior charged the same euro price as in Germany.
- Romania: La Vie Est Belle came out close to Spain's price after conversion. Dior prices in euro there. The standard rate is now 21%1.
- Greece: Dior's common euro price and the lowest group for both Prada perfumes. Standard VAT is 24%1.
- Ireland: La Vie Est Belle level with France, and Dior's common euro price. Standard VAT is 23%1.
How big is the European perfume market behind these prices? 10ML's registry holds no Europe-wide figure from a primary source, so this page gives none. For Germany, P&S Intelligence puts the perfume market at US$4.19B50 in 2025. The same firm forecasts US$5.56B50 by 2030. Worldwide, Statista projects the fragrance market, perfume and eau de toilette only, at US$56.65B51 in 2026. A Europe total would need one research firm's definition applied to every country.
Shared EU stores: one price by design
Byredo, Parfums de Marly and, outside Germany, France and Spain, Creed sell to most of these countries from one EU store, so their identical prices reflect one shop, not thirteen pricing decisions. A zero gap here says nothing about national pricing policy.
Byredo Gypsy Water at 100ml showed one price in all 13 countries, as did Bal d'Afrique and Mojave Ghost. Byredo's English EU store lists the nine smaller countries in its delivery terms. 10ML did not test delivery to each of them at checkout.
Parfums de Marly showed one price everywhere for Delina at 75ml and Layton at 125ml, from its Europe store. Creed Aventus at 100ml showed the same price in all 11 countries where 10ML could read it. Diptyque serves the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Ireland and Romania from its shared store, and Austria from the German one.
Some houses could not be read at all. Le Labo's EU store showed no prices on the check date. One other house in the check runs no official online store in any of the 13 countries.
At 10ML, a 10ml decant of Aventus costs €35.91 and a 10ml decant of Gypsy Water costs €45.81, VAT included. Both are one price across the EU countries 10ML delivers to.
If you want to wear a scent before paying for a full bottle, two pages set the options side by side: the price per ml of samples, travel sprays and discovery sets and how decant shops across Europe compare.
How 10ML collected the prices
10ML opened each house's official store for 13 countries on 8 October 2026 and recorded the regular price of one bottle size per perfume; 261 of 507 country-and-perfume cells had a readable price. Every empty cell carries its reason in the dataset.
What was measured: the regular list price, VAT included as displayed, of one fixed bottle size per perfume. The 39 perfumes, from 20 houses, were chosen from the 10ML Price-per-ml Index, mixing designer and niche houses.
How it was read: each page was loaded in a real Chrome browser. The price came from the visible page or the page's own structured product data. The bottle size was tied to that price by the store's unit price, the selected size or the size-specific product code.
When and in what currency: all prices are from 8 October 2026. Prices in złoty, koruna, forint and leu were converted at the ECB euro reference rates of 7 October 2026, the latest published at the time of the check. VAT rates are the 2026 standard rates from the Tax Foundation table, which builds on the European Commission's Taxes in Europe Database.
What was left out: department stores, perfumeries and marketplaces, always. Promotions, member discounts, codes, gifts with purchase and shipping costs were excluded; where a sitewide sale ran, the struck-through regular price was recorded. Bot protection blocked Guerlain, Givenchy and one further niche house entirely, as well as Valentino's German and Italian stores and most Hermès country pages, where 10ML read 7 of 39 cells.
Two limits remain. Parfums de Marly's Europe store does not state on the product page whether VAT is included, although EU consumer prices must include it. Creed's pages do not print the concentration; Creed sells Aventus as eau de parfum.
Method · Same perfume, different price: official house e-shop prices across 13 European countries (October 2026)
On 8 October 2026 we opened each perfume house's own official online store for 13 EU countries (DE, FR, ES, IT, NL, BE, AT, PL, CZ, HU, RO, GR, IE) and recorded the regular price of one fixed bottle size per perfume, including VAT, in the currency the store shows. Perfumes were chosen from the 10ML perfume price-per-ml index (https://10ml.com/guides/perfume-price-per-ml-index/csv), mixing designer and niche houses. Pages were loaded in a real Chrome browser; each price was read from the visible page and/or the page's own structured product data (JSON-LD or the store's product feed), and the bottle size was tied to that exact price by the store's unit price (e.g. 1.280,00 EUR/L), the selected size, or the size-specific product code. Where a house runs a sitewide promotion we recorded the struck-through regular price. Prices in PLN, CZK, HUF and RON were converted to euro at the ECB euro reference rates of 7 October 2026, the latest published at the time of the check; euro prices are as shown. Price per ml = euro price / size in ml. VAT rates are the 2026 standard rates from the Tax Foundation table. Where a country has no official store, the store blocked automated access, or no price was shown, the cell is left empty with the reason. Third-party retailers (department stores, perfumeries, marketplaces) were never used. The summary block gives, for each perfume priced in at least two countries, the cheapest and dearest country in euro and the spread between them.

Keep in mind
- Official house stores only; no department store, perfumery or marketplace prices.
- Regular list prices on 8 October 2026, VAT included as displayed. Promotions, member discounts, codes, gifts with purchase and shipping costs are excluded; where a sitewide sale ran (Armani 25% off fragrance, YSL 'Member Days' 20% off, Lancome sales in DE, IT, CZ, HU and IE) the struck-through regular price is recorded.
- Non-euro prices are converted at the ECB reference rate of 7 October 2026 (PLN 4.3825, CZK 24.427, HUF 366.75, RON 5.3528 per euro); a different day's rate moves those euro figures slightly.
- Several houses sell into many countries from one shared EU store at one euro price (Byredo and Parfums de Marly everywhere; Creed outside DE, FR and ES; Diptyque for CZ, GR, HU, IE and RO, with AT served by the German store). These rows are marked store_scope = 'shared EU store'; their zero spread reflects a single EU price, not twelve separate national decisions.
- Dior's Czech, Hungarian, Romanian and Greek stores price in euro, not local currency; Poland is Dior's only non-euro price among these countries.
- Blocked by bot protection on the check date, so no prices recorded: Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Guerlain, Givenchy, most Hermes country pages (7 of 39 cells read) and Valentino's German and Italian stores.
- Le Labo's official EU store displayed no prices on the check date (its price service returned errors on every product and country), so Le Labo cells are empty.
- Tom Ford Beauty has no official online store in any of the 13 countries (its stores cover the US, UK and Australia), so Tom Ford cells are empty. A look-alike 'official' German Tom Ford site exists and was not used.
- Prada's EU fragrance pages are on prada.com; their structured data marks items out of stock although the pages show an add-to-bag button. Three Paradigme prices (FR, ES, BE) come from the page's structured data rather than visible text.
- Creed's pages do not print the concentration; Creed sells Aventus and Green Irish Tweed as eau de parfum.
- Parfums de Marly's Europe store does not state on the product page whether VAT is included; EU consumer prices must include it.
- A shop being reachable from a country is not the same as a country store: Byredo's English EU store lists the nine smaller countries in its delivery terms, but delivery to each was not tested at checkout.
- Spreads compare one bottle size per perfume; other sizes of the same perfume can be priced differently across countries.

Frequently asked questions
- In which European country is the same perfume priced lowest?
- Germany and Austria were most often the lowest-priced countries for perfumes that houses price country by country, in 10ML's check of official stores on 8 October 2026. Germany had the lowest La Vie Est Belle and, with Austria, the lowest Y. Spain had the lowest Black Opium. Dior charged one euro price almost everywhere.
- How much does the price of one perfume differ between EU countries?
- Up to 27.9% for the same bottle on 8 October 2026. That was Lancôme's La Vie Est Belle at 100ml, highest in Hungary and lowest in Germany, on Lancôme's own stores. Among perfumes whose price varied between countries, gaps ran from 2.7% to 27.9%; Dior's four perfumes differed only in Poland.
- Does VAT explain the price differences?
- Only in part. Standard VAT in 2026 runs from 19% in Germany to 27% in Hungary among the 13 countries checked, but Dior charged both the same euro price. Lancôme priced Ireland, at 23%, below Italy, at 22%. So the house's pricing policy matters as well as tax.
- What about Germany, Italy, Romania or Poland?
- Germany had the lowest La Vie Est Belle price on 8 October 2026. Italy sat in the middle for Lancôme and matched other euro countries for Dior. Romania's La Vie Est Belle was close to Spain's. Poland, priced in złoty, was Dior's only higher country, by 5.6% to 12.8%.
- Why do some houses charge the same price everywhere?
- Some, like Dior, set one euro price for most countries and absorb the VAT difference, keeping less before tax where VAT is higher. Others, such as Byredo and Parfums de Marly, sell from one shared EU store, so one price follows by design. The data shows the policy; only the houses could state their reasons.
- How much VAT is included in the price of perfume?
- Perfume is taxed at the standard VAT rate, which in 2026 is 19% in Germany and 27% in Hungary. Because VAT is added to the pre-tax price, it makes up a little under a sixth of the shelf price at the German rate and a little over a fifth at the Hungarian rate.
- How big is the European perfume market?
- No Europe-wide primary figure is in 10ML's registry. P&S Intelligence puts the German perfume market at US$4.19B in 2025 and US$5.56B by 2030. Statista projects the global fragrance market, perfume and eau de toilette only, at US$56.65B in 2026. A Europe total would need one consistent source.
- Where do these prices come from?
- From the perfume houses' own official online stores in 13 EU countries, opened by 10ML on 8 October 2026. 10ML recorded regular prices with VAT for one bottle size per perfume, converted złoty, koruna, forint and leu at the ECB rates of 7 October, and never used department stores, perfumeries or marketplaces.
