What does Pacific Chill smell like?

Pacific Chill by Louis Vuitton launched in 2023 and is made for anyone, men and women alike. It opens on a crowd of citrus and herbs: citron, orange, lemon, mint, black currant and coriander. The heart turns fruitier and softer, with apricot and rose set against basil and the less usual carrot seeds. The base is where it leaves plain citrus behind. Fig and dates bring a soft sweetness, and ambrette closes it gently. The catalogue files its main accord as floral.

Jean Lowe Vibe by Maison Alhambra keeps the original's whole pyramid on paper, as Tango Noir's house list also does. Parfumo's comparison page for the pair lists orange, blackcurrant, citron, lemon, apricot, basil, May rose, carrot seed, dates and fig for both. Its Fragrantica listing adds mint, coriander and ambrette, so top, heart and base all line up on paper.

Parfumo's page for Pacific Chill also puts Vibe first in its 'smells similar' block.

The main difference is the finish. Fragrantica members are split on how it performs: some report weak longevity, and some find its dry-down greener than the original's.

2Closest on the dry-down: Pacific Aura

Pacific Aura by Rayhaan shares the same ten notes with the original on Parfumo's comparison page: orange, blackcurrant, citron, lemon, apricot, basil, May rose, carrot seed, dates and fig.

The main difference is at the start. An owner writing on Fragrantica finds it very similar overall, and places the differences in a more citrus-forward opening and weaker projection rather than in the later stages. Not everyone agrees: other members there say it fades quickly on them, that it lacks the original's smooth green mint, that the fig comes through only faintly and that the carrot note stands out.

It suits someone who likes the bright citrus side of the original best and prefers a scent that stays nearer the skin. Basis: named sources, the Parfumo comparison and the owner comments on Fragrantica.

3Fresher take: Pinnace

Pinnace by French Avenue shares the fewest listed notes of the clones here. On Parfumo's comparison page, the two pyramids overlap only on orange and blackcurrant, and Pinnace adds grapefruit, mint, Ambroxan and musk.

The main difference is bitterness against fruit. A member on Fragrantica who compared both describes a more bitter lemon note in the first minutes of Pinnace, while Pacific Chill leans more natural and fruity, with apricot to the fore. Going by Fragrantica's list, grapefruit and orange, mint and blackcurrant, then Ambroxan and musk, there is no apricot, fig or dates in it.

It suits someone who wants the sharp citrus side of the scent without the dried-fruit base. Basis: named sources, the Parfumo comparison and a member's write-up on Fragrantica.

4Softer take: Awatif Pour Homme

Awatif Pour Homme by Zimaya shares orange, blackcurrant, citron, apricot, basil, dates and fig with the original on Parfumo's comparison page. Its Fragrantica listing gives mint, citron, blackcurrant, orange and coriander on top, apricot, basil and rose in the heart, and ambrette, dates and fig in the base.

The main difference is herbs over fruit. A Fragrantica member calls it true to the original, but with more basil than mint and a less distinct fruitiness. The same member finds its projection low.

It suits someone who finds the fruit of the original too forward and wants a more herbal, quieter version. Basis: named sources, the Parfumo comparison and a member's comments on Fragrantica.

5Premium alternative: Rare Reef

Rare Reef by Afnan is sold by the house as a unisex Extrait de Parfum, one of two Extraits in this guide. Afnan's own page lists blackcurrant, orange, citron, mint, coriander and grapefruit; apricot, basil, rose and violet leaf; fig, dates, ambrette and amberwood. A Fragrantica news article on its release says it follows Pacific Chill, with an official pyramid that is a couple of interchangeable notes away.

The main difference is weight. Going by the lists, grapefruit, violet leaf and amberwood are added, while lemon and carrot seeds are missing. One member on Fragrantica calls it a saltier, more ambery and smoother take, less fresh and brisk than the original. Several other members there say it is not that close.

It suits someone who wants an Extrait and a smoother, more ambery reading, and who accepts that opinion on the match is mixed. New to concentration names? 6Darker take: Tango Noir

Tango Noir by Oakcha has the least outside feedback of any clone here. Oakcha's own page names Pacific Chill as its reference and lists the same pyramid: citron, orange, mint, lemon, coriander and blackcurrant; apricot, basil, carrot seeds and May rose; fig, dates and ambrette.

The main difference, by the house's own description, is a darker turn: freshness with a dark twist over a soft, musky wood base. Fragrantica files it as a 2026 Aromatic Fruity Extrait, and the one member write-up there cannot compare it with Pacific Chill.

It suits someone curious about a moodier reading of the same note list, and happy to be an early wearer. Basis: named sources, the house page and the Fragrantica listing. There is no independent comparison yet, so treat the match as the house's claim.

Where the clones part ways

Read across the member comments and two gaps keep coming back. The first is staying power and reach: some owners report weak longevity for Vibe, one owner describes weaker projection for Pacific Aura, and one member finds Awatif Pour Homme's projection low.

The second is the fruit. Pacific Chill balances apricot, fig and dates against its citrus and herbs. The clone comments often land on that balance: more bitter lemon in Pinnace, less distinct fruit in Awatif Pour Homme, a faint fig in Pacific Aura, and a saltier, more ambery feel in Rare Reef. If the dried-fruit base is what you love, that is the part to check first.

Clone bottle or the original in a small size?

Measured per ml, each clone with a dated price in the table comes in well under Pacific Chill. Tango Noir has no price there, since no EU list price turned up on the check date. The original runs to €52.11 for the 10ml decant, or €5.21/ml, falling to €4.14/ml in the 30ml at €124.20. If you already know this style is for you and want to spray it freely every morning, a large clone bottle stretches further.

Look at it as the price of a decision, though, and it reads differently. A 3ml of the original, around 60 sprays, is €18.81. Authentic perfumes in the same family

If you like the citrus-and-herb side of Pacific Chill, three originals share part of it. Torino21 by Xerjoff, from 2021, opens on mint, lemon, basil and thyme, moves through blackcurrant, rosemary, lavender and jasmine, and settles on musk and vervain: greener and more aromatic.

Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford, from 2014, starts on lemon, grapefruit, mint, basil, tarragon and blackcurrant, with coriander, shiso, black pepper and orange blossom in the heart and a warmer base of musk, vetiver, amber, labdanum and civet.

Afternoon Swim is the Louis Vuitton option, from 2019: mandarin orange, Sicilian orange and bergamot over aquatic notes, drying down to ambergris and ginger. It is a simpler, sunnier citrus. All three come in 3ml, 10ml and 30ml, so you can wear a couple of them over the same week.

How to test a dupe

A paper strip tells you little about how a scent sits on you, so compare on skin. Spray the original one day and the clone on another. Check your wrist right after spraying, again around midday, and once more in the evening. Keeping them to separate days stops one from colouring your nose for the other.

A 3ml of Pacific Chill is enough for a fair week of comparison. If the original wins, a 10ml decant of around 200 sprays gives you weeks of wear, and a 30ml, around 600 sprays, is the one to keep. Pay attention to the black currant and citrus up top, then to the fig and dates underneath, since that is where the clones differ most.
